Job Summary

The Transportation/Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the entire fleet and Logistics Coordinators.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

* Direct supervision of the Shop Mechanics and Route/Logistics Coordinators in relation to daily operations of the fleet.
* Responsible for transportation of raw materials, communication and coordination with outside contract haulers, works with office manager to schedule all outgoing finished product and the transportation of such.
* Responsible for overseeing all routes and routing process; makes changes as necessary to ensure route efficiency; schedules all drivers ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
* Sets schedules and start times for raw materials transfer drivers to ensure a constant flow of material to the plant.
* Involved in hiring, training, and safety orientation of new drivers.
* Monitors DOT logs and driver timecards to guarantee drivers operate within regulations.
* Schedules, trains and mentors shop mechanics. Reviews shop mechanic work ensuring quality.
* Sources/Manages shop parts inventories.
* Out-sources work to local dealerships to ensure fleet repairs are kept current.
* Responsible for maintaining current accounts and enlisting new accounts in designated area.
* Continually drive company safety policies with all employees.
* Must have a passion for safety.
* Perform monthly driver safety ride-a-longs.
* Provides prompt, efficient, quality service to all customers in area.
* All other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED equivalent.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
* Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
* Must hold Class A/B CDL or willing to get within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in routing processes or prior route delivery experience is a plus.
* Inventory/parts management experience helpful.
* College Degree.
* Highly organized; superior time management skills.
* Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; adaptable to changing situations.

Physical Demands
* Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.
* Frequently must push, pull, move or lift up to 100 lbs.
* Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out at a plant location, customer locations, and in company vehicle.
